Digestion is important for
breaking down food into nutrients, which the body uses for energy, growth, and
cell repair. Food and drink must be changed into smaller molecules of nutrients
before the blood absorbs them and carries them to cells throughout the body.
The body breaks down nutrients from food and drink into carbohydrates, protein,
fats, and vitamins. Our digestive
system is uniquely designed to turn the food
you eat into nutrients, which the body uses for energy, growth
and cell repair. Digestion works by moving food through the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Waste products of digestion pass through the large
intestine and out of the body as a solid matter called stool. Thus digestive system is
a group of organs working together to convert food into energy and basic
nutrients to feed the entire body. Food passes through a long tube inside the
body known as the alimentary canal or the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) and the process of
digestion start from mouth and it nd s in anus.
In
order to make the students easily grasp the idea of human digestive system, I
have prepared a easy hand book in the form of an autobiography of the digestive
system. I have made a different approach by giving human attributes to the
digestive system and made the digestive system talk to the students about its
processing. This works gives a detailed
insight to the students about digestive system, the organs involved in the
process of digestion and its functioning.
It analysis in detain the enzymes that are necessary for breaking up of
the food. It also evaluates the functions of different organs that are involved
in the process. Altogether my study entitled ‘Autobiography of the digestive
system’ is a collective attempt to make the learning of digestive system
effective to the students.
